Background
Olivia Cope is a 1998 graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. Mrs. Cope began her teaching career in Northern Kentucky, teaching first in an elementary school in a special education resource room setting. She then taught 7th-9th grade students in a regional special education program for students with emotional and behavioral disorders. Mrs. Cope joined the staff at Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy in 2003. Since then, she has served as a classroom teacher, intervention specialist, and Special Education Coordinator. Olivia started out teaching second grade in 2003. Despite her success in the classroom, she decided to follow her first passion and began working in the special education department as an Intervention Specialist in 2004. In this role, Olivia worked to ensure that at-risk students and students with identified disabilities were learning and progressing in their classrooms. Since 2005 Olivia has served CCPA as Special Education Coordinator. Through targeted and specialized interventions, Olivia leads a team of intervention specialists in meeting the needs of the student population. She also collaborates with teachers to differentiate instruction in the classroom setting to meet student needs. As part of this process, Mrs. Cope collaborates with parents in the identification and services for students with disabilities. She readily identifies that one of the best aspects of her job is work with teachers and parents for the best education for those students who face daily learning obstacles.
Olivia has demonstrated dedication to the students and their families at CCPA over the last 8 years. She strives to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and staff to ensure the top quality education that all children deserve. In the role of Assistant Principal, I look forward to continuing to meet the needs of all learners at CCPA.
