Michelle Y. Simpson will serve as the Assistant Principal for the CCPA Elementary West location with a focus on grades 3-6 beginning in August of 2011. She is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, located in Charlotte, N.C. Michelle graduated with a B.S. Degree in Sociology, Social Work, with the vision of working with troubled, abused children in the inner-city. Michelle lived in Atlanta, Ga. for years while working in child abuse shelters as a Social Worker. She moved back to her childhood home of Cincinnati and continued working in the field of social work.  She later accepted the call to teach and inspire children, becoming the next educator in her family’s legacy. Her calling brought her to Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy in the winter of 2004.

Michelle began her tenure at C.C.P.A. in seventh and eighth grade, teaching language arts and social studies. As part of the purple team, she was instrumental in the development of the C.C.P.A. High School. Over the course of 7 years Michelle has moved with her students from the seventh grade to the twelfth grade. Michelle has also been the driving force behind C.C.P.A.’s widely-popular “Black History Program” and has been honored as CCPA's "Teacher of the Year". 

Ms. Simpson is the type of teacher that not only teaches but she also preaches and this allows her students to evolve mentally, emotionally, and socially. “Life’s most challenging aspect isn’t making money, or trying to get the grades, it’s learning how to endure and respect the people around you”, is a quote Ms. Simpson tells her students everyday. Education is not a choice but a journey towards the destination of a successful and meaningful life. As each student enters C.C.P.A., I want their journey to be a positive, mind blowing experience. I want the students to walk away with a passport full of knowledge, the courage and motivation to accept any challenge life will put in front of them.
