  Background 

Mr. Mathews is dedicated to providing the learning community of the Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy with opportunities for a quality education that are grounded in best practices and sound research and developed through a rigorous curriculum. As the instructional leader of the CCPA Middle/ High School, Mr. Mathews brings a vision of creating a positive learning culture in which staff and students are provided opportunities for increasing personal skills and knowledge.  It is the goal of the CCPA learning community to move the schools to a higher level by setting high expectations, engaging students in meaningful activities to promote literacy, and using data to drive instruction.

Mr. Mathews is one of the original members of the Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy staff serving the learning community for over 12 years as a teacher, instructional coach, extra-curricular and athletic coach, as well as an educational administrator. As principal for over nine years, he has worked with local, state, and national organizations to build the Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy academic state ranking of “Excellent” and leads a staff of “Highly Qualified” as well as “Highly Dedicated” professional educators. Under Mr. Mathews’ leadership, CCPA Middle/ High School has focused on increasing student learning with augmented technology, standards-based grading, teacher collaboration, community engagement, integrated project work, and inquiry-based thinking.

Mr. Mathews graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Jackson State University and received a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Miami University.
